Junya Watanabe x Levi's (2002)
This is a pair of Junya Watanabe Man Poem pants in collaboration with Levi's from SS 2002. This collection featured a selection of diffrent garments with poems printed directly on them. "I wanted to put in the collection something that was the real thing," said Watanabe, who then transformed the basic denim jeans with color, geometric stripes and plaids and the messages that he had asked his design team to contribute "from the heart" on the subjects of love and morality. The result was not self-consciously arty, like Jenny Holtzer's "poems" written in neon lights. It was a lighthearted take on a world where an entire generation is on message. This pair of pants features a missing back pocket to make room for its corresponding poem.
